This year’s Rocky Mountain PBS rafting trip is scheduled for July 20 – 23, 2014. Raft 44 miles on the Green River in Dinosaur National Monument with historian Dr. Andrew Gulliford. Put in at Gates of Lodore in Colorado and take out at Split Mountain Campground in Utah. Learn about the history, geology and natural world of Dinosaur National Monument on this unique whitewater rafting adventure. It’s like watching Rocky Mountain PBS, but you’re actually there!

Leave No trace

This four-day rafting trip is Leave No Trace, so plan to pack out what you pack in. Portable toilets with privacy tents, hand-washing stations, stoves, coolers, food, water, personal dry bags and shuttles are provided by Adrift Adventures. Three-person tents ($25) and sleeping bag/pad combos ($20) are available for rent. Your guides will prepare meals and clean up, so you can relax and enjoy your time in Dinosaur National Monument.

This is a fun way to give back to your favorite local television station. Adrift Adventures will donate a portion of the proceeds from this rafting trip back to RMPBS.

Expert Interpreter Dr. Andrew Gulliford.

Expert interpreter Dr. Andrew Gulliford, Professor of History and Environmental Studies in the Department of History at Fort Lewis College, will again participate in the Rocky Mountain PBS rafting trip. He has been leading trips in Dinosaur National Monument for nearly 25 years and his stories about the area are as entertaining as they are informative.

Dr. Gulliford teaches courses in wilderness and environmental history and is the author of America’s Country Schools, Sacred Objects and Sacred Places: Preserving Tribal Traditions, and Boomtown Blues: Colorado Oil Shale (winner of the Colorado Book Award).
