Experience Utah rafting at its best on a one-day Green River rafting adventures through Split Mountain Gorge. Visit the land of dinosaurs, wild geologic folding and colorful canyon history in Dinosaur National Monument. Challenge class III rapids like Moonshine, S.O.B., Schoolboy and Englesby – first encountered and named by famous explorer John Wesley Powell.

Paddle or Row?

Trips are usually run in paddle rafts, but oar boats can be requested. Both options hold five to eight people plus a guide.

Raft Split Mountain Gorge on the Green River

Adrift Adventures explores Split Mountain Gorge by raft each day throughout the summer. Trips depart at 9:00 am and are limited to 25 people. On the shuttle to the river you get to stop to view Native American rock art left by the Fremont Indians approximately 1,000 years ago. After a safety orientation at the put-in, you will float nine miles on the Green River. With the help of your guide you will run multiple class III through the spectacular Split Mountain Gorge. with multiple class III rapids. We stop at a sandy beach half-way through the trip where guides prepare lunch. More rapids and exploration fill the second half of the trip with an approximate return time of 4:00 pm.

A Great Family Rafting Adventure

Children as young as six years old can participate in this educational and adventurous rafting trip in Dinosaur National Monument. We teach people how to raft every day and recommend a paddle raft, where you grab a paddle and help maneuver the boat with instruction from a professional river guide. This is our most popular option as you get to participate in the action and no previous experience is needed. We also offer oar rafts by request, where your guide rows you down the river while you relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.

You will be surrounded by some of the most unique geology in the world

Raft nine miles through Split Mountain Gorge, a 1,500 foot canyon carved by the Green River. To the geologists or nature lover it is one of the most spectacular geological areas in the west. Colorful rock strata is exposed from the Morrison Formation, which contains dinosaur fossils and is more than 140 million years old.

This whitewater rafting trip is the perfect mix of unique history, spectacular geology and fun rapids. Navigate through Moonshine, School Boy and S.O.B. rapids on this nine mile float. Between rapids take in the breathtaking scenery and learn about the area’s unique history that includes Native Americans, cowboys, outlaws and famous explorers like John Wesley Powell. Seasoned rafters and first-time river runners alike will enjoy this fun and educational rafting trip on the Green River through Split Mountain Gorge in Dinosaur National Monument.

Lunch included on all rafting trips

Enjoy a catered riverside lunch prepared by your professional river guides. During lunch your guides will also educate you about Dinosaur National Monument’s unique geology, wildlife and history.


Please meet at the Adrift Adventures Rafting Center at 8:30 AM.

Adrift Adventures Rafting Center is located on US Hwy 40 just outside the Dinosaur National Monument entrance. En route to the put-in for the Split Mountain Gorge rafting trip, you will stop to view 800-year-old Indian rock art. Upon arrival at the river put-in your trip leader will provide a safety orientation before you start rafting through Split Mountain Gorge. A catered riverside lunch is provided. You will arrive at the river trip takeout between 2-3pm. A shuttle will take you back to the Adrift Adventures Rafting Center arriving between 3-4pm.
