Abby Tubbs

Captain / Trip Leader

Abbey grew up running rivers with her family all over the western United States, Alaska, Turkey and Zimbabwe. Her first trip down the Gates of Lodore was at the age of four, and she vividly recalls the large wave at Schoolboy rapid that drenched her. Following this experience she has always gauged subsequent rapids by asking, “Is it as big as Schoolboy?” At age fourteen, she duckied her first trip down the Yampa at 18,000 csf and had her first big swim at Warm Springs rapid. After considering all the rivers to guide on, Abbey chose to work in Dinosaur National Monument with Adrift in the summer of 2012 where she had had her most memorable adventures. When Abbey is not guiding on the river, she teaches high school math and skis weekends as often as possible.
