Hayden Ell

River Guide

Growing up in the front range of Colorado Hayden was mostly involved in school sports and academics. These ventures led him to Western State Colorado University where he competed for 4 years in collegiate Track & Field as a “multi” athlete in the Heptathlon and Decathlon events. Hayden fell upon the Recreation Outdoor Education Program where he rediscovered his love for the outdoors and the wonders that lay throughout. The “ROE” program not only reconnected Hayden with the outdoors but also opened so many new doors to different mediums within the industry. Falling in love with competitive mountain biking, freeride skiing, and commercial white-water rafting, even completed his first ever “multi-day” with none other than ADRIFT DINOSAUR! Seeing the wild Yampa river for the first time sparked his love for raging rivers and the responsibility that comes with running them.

While not on the commercial grind Hayden enjoys running the river privately with his friends on a stand-up paddle board, touring into the backcountry for some fresh steep lines, and going as fast as possible down singletrack. Off season includes working at Crested Butte Mountain Resort as a youth freeride couch, and exploring as many new places as possible.

Hayden is always up for joking around and making sure everyone feels welcome among the beautiful canyons, sharing his knowledge of geology, history and animal life along the Yampa and Green rivers. Just you wait for costume night;)
